A Cause Before the Cure

Join us for an afternoon of golf and giving! Proceeds from this event will go directly to children who are in need of life-saving insulin, diabetes medical supplies, and services. Continental breakfast and lunch will be served and are included in your ticket price. Please arrive at 7:45AM for check-in and the tournament will begin promptly at 8:30AM.

Help A Diabetic Child (HADC) is a 501c3 non-profit that was founded by Tami and Joe Balavage soon after their son Michael was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. HADC began its mission in December of 2012 after hearing stories of families and individuals who were struggling to pay for insulin and diabetes medical supplies. Tami and Joe personally found out quickly how expensive this disease can be even with insurance.

HADC has purchased hundreds of thousands of glucose test strips, lancets, pen needles, syringes, meters and other diabetes medical supplies along with tens of thousands of units of insulin for over 2,000 children and young adults in need. At HADC we do not handle any medical supplies or insulin. We receive referrals from Dr.'s offices, school nurses, diabetes educators, social workers, hospitals and other professionals who need help for their patients who cannot afford their insulin and medical supplies. Once HADC receives a referral we ask to have the prescription sent directly to the pharmacy to be filled and then HADC will cover the cost. The patient is responsible for picking up or having their supplies and insulin delivered directly to them.
